After 39 years of working as a studio engineer and player, Gus Smith opened the doors of GuitarSmiths with nephew Phillip Smith in 1997.

After leaving High School, Gus joined The Navy Band and later became one of the most renown Jazz players in the region. He has played with such Jazz greats as Herb Ellis, Charlie Hayden, Clint Strong, and many others. He has taught generations of young musicians, including his own son, Matt Smith (Flipoff Pirates).

Phillip Smith has also been instructing guitarists for 22 years and his knowledge of vintage and new equipment is unequaled in the area. He has played in bands since leaving High School and is currently touring with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Legends, The Lovin' Spoonful.

Jim Smith, also the nephew of Gus, currently teaches lessons and has been doing so for 14 years. He has been active in the Northwest Arkansas music scene for many years and his extensive study of music makes him a cornucopia of information.

GuitarSmiths continues to bring quality products and instruction to the Harrison and surrounding area. We look forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come, stop by and see us soon!
